Informational Meeting for Griffon Junior Singers

As previously announced, Darren Verbick (Elementary Fine Arts Coordinator for St. Joseph Public Schools) and Ashley Kempt (Music Instructor at Noyes Elementary) have assumed the roles of Directors of Griffon Junior Singers. They are eager to assume responsibility for this long-standing program of vocal performance excellence.   They have wonderful ideas for the growth and development of Griffon Jr Singers and plan to expand on the excellent foundation of choral music education that is in place. 



Missouri Western State University will strive to be widely inclusive in our recruitment of singers, and will focus on local and regional performance opportunities that will be within financial reach of most families, using fund-raising activities to assist those families for whom even regional travel is cost-prohibitive.



For 2012-2013, Griffon Junior Singers will be reorganized into two levels – Prelude Choir (grades 2- 5, directed by Ashley) and Premiere Choir (grades 5 – 10, directed by Darren).  Both will practice on Wednesday nights, with practices beginning at 5:15 pm.



We are in the process of revising the Griffon Junior Singers Web site (see http://www.wi.missouriwestern.edu/Arts/gjs.asp).  Following the July 16 meeting, the Web site will include a summary of the information presented, plus a brief video by Darren and Ashley.
