My Classroom????

I think the kids in our classroom have spring fever.....This video, pretty much sums up how their attention span has been lately at carpet time......

The greenhouse building is NOT going as planned. It has either rained or snowed every single day that I have been off work to work on it. Today, April 15, it snowed. April 15!!! So, we wait. Although the tractor has a cab on it, and I could still dig holes to set the posts, I don't want to leave ruts in the ground, or have the holes filling up with water as I dig. So, we wait.....and wait....

My family tree

Genealogy is one of my favorite hobbies. I can spend hours in the library, at cemeteries or on the computer researching and inputting information into my software “Family Tree Maker”. Names in my tree that I am researching include (but are not limited to and of course have various spellings): Espey, also spelled Aspey, Shinabarger, Gray, Hough, Haynes, Lay, Cox, Miller, Lynn, French, Neukommer, Williams, Edgerton, Moore, Baldwin, Hall, Yoder, Rothman, Chadwick, Richards, Brey, Updike, Pierson and more.

A cousin has traced the line back to Austria. I have worked on lines in MO, IN, OR and PA.

If someone needs a grave photo that is located near Clinton Co, Nodaway Co or Johnson Co in Missouri, I can take a digital photo and send it to you for a $20 fee (mainly for my gas). You will get faster response for Clinton Co as that is where I live.

Soap & Misc recipes

Automatic Dishwasher Soap

Add equal parts of 20 Mule Team Borax and Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda (not baking soda!). Stir together until well mixed.
A normal dishwasher will use 2 tablespoons per load

Automatic DishwasherSpot Rinser

Fill the compartment with vinegar

Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap- Front or top load machine-

4 Cups hot tap water
1 Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup Washing Soda
½ Cup Borax-
Grate bar of soap and add to saucepan with water.
Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.-
Fill a 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tap water.
Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax.
Stir well until all powder is dissolved.
Fill bucket to top with more hot water.
Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.
-Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water.
Shake before each use. (will gel)
-Yield:
Liquid soap recipe makes 10 gallons.-Top Load Machine- 5/8 Cup per load (Approx. 180 loads)-
Front Load Machines- ¼ Cup per load (Approx. 640 loads)

Powdered Laundry Detergent- Top load machine

1 Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup Washing Soda
½ Cup Borax-
Grate soap or break into pieces and process in a food processor until powdered.
Mix all ingredients.

For light load, use 1 Tablespoon.
For heavy or heavily soiled load, use 2 Tablespoons.

Yields: 3 Cups detergent. (Approx. 40 loads)

Inexpensive Fabric Softener Recipe
1 Cup White Vinegar Add vinegar to rinse cycle.
Works great. Removes residue and odors. Also helps to keep washing machine and hoses fresh and clean too.

Deicer/wiper fluid receipes

#1) 3 parts vinegar and 1 part water. Put in a spray bottle and spray down your car windows at night.

#2) Use a bottle of 70% isopropyl alcohol with 3 drops of dish soap. Apply liberally to the glass with a spray bottle at night. In the morning the ice slides off.

#3) Mix one part water to two parts rubbing alcohol. Apply to the window. Ice slides or peels off.
