Northwest Missouri Home Educators has added lots of new resources to the website on almost every page! Some of these include: links to homeschool-friendly events and activities such as the PE classes at MWSU, Math Contests, and Homeschool Day at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop; new links to Teaching Resources for every grade and level; new links to educational games and sites on the Kids Page; new Freebies; and some fun new insets on several pages such as a Daily Factoid on the Home page, a free Coloring Page of the Day on the Teaching Resources Pre K - K page, and a Surfing the Calendar on the In the News page. As always, our Calendar of Events page keeps an up-to-date list on homeschool-friendly events in the area.

While you're on the website, please take a moment to vote in the poll at the bottom of the Home page. This poll is to help us determine which ways homeschoolers in the area like to receive information about upcoming events and activities. Your vote would really help us focus our energies on the best ways to get all the information we have out to all homeschoolers.

If you're on Facebook, be sure to "like" our page, Northwest Missouri Home Educators , to get (almost) daily resources, ideas, and tips and to be entered into our monthly prize drawing, with prizes such as Restaurant.com coupons, Homeschool Mega e-Planners, Amazon.com certificates, gift bags, etc. If you refer a friend and that friend also "likes" our page, let us know and your name will be entered again in the drawing (an extra entry for every friend you refer).

Be sure to visit our affiliate site, stjohomeschool for even more homeschooling resources and information.

Cameron MO coop news
Dear Families,

We are a parent-led, parent-taught co-op that meets once a week on Friday afternoons, from 12:30 - 3:30 pm, for 10 weeks per session, at the First Baptist Church in Cameron, Missouri. While we are a christian co-op, we are not affiliated with any particular denomination. We are a "full-participation" co-op, where entire families enroll, and at least one parent is required to be on-site, helping out in some capacity, during the co-op - we are not a drop-off program. We have classes and/or programs for every age, from infants through 12th grade.

Our fees are calculated at a $20 per family, per semester, plus class materials fees that will vary according to which classes you enroll your child(ren) in. Many of our classes have no materials costs associated with them, and the maximum for any one class is $10.

If, after reading this, you are interested in learning more, in volunteering to teach or help in other ways, or in registering for classes, please, Please PLEASE....join our yahoogroup.
This will be the only individually-emailed announcement about the co-op that you will receive. All further announcements about the co-op will go out through the yahoo group.
To join the group, go to:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LEADHomeschoolCoop/

and click on "Join This Group"
and follow the instructions.
I will be posting information on the group in the next couple of days regarding what classes have already been scheduled for this semester, as well as how many more classes we still need, and when registration will open.
If you know of others who may be interested, please feel free to forward this information on.
If you have other questions, please feel free to ask those questions on the group, as others may be wondering the same things, or you are also always welcome to email me directly with your questions, comments and concerns.
Sincerely Yours,
Carrie Bishop

Excelsior Springs Baptist Church is starting a new American Heritage Girls (AHG) troop. For those who don't know AHG's is a scouting program similar to Girl Scouts, but it is Christian in nature. Girls ages 5 to 18 all meet at one time. For most of the evening, the girls break out into smaller groups based on age. This is NOT a homeschool troop. Any girl is welcome to join, but Christian values will be upheld and taught. The program is non-denominational. We plan to have regular fun activities such as camping and the badge work is pretty in depth, so the girls learn a lot. The website for AHG is http://www.ahgonline.org/

If you'd like more info, feel free to email ritarash2002@ yahoo.com Please help us get this information out to people. Feel free to pass the details on to people you think might be interested.
